i have a emerald crab and he is starting to eat my yellow colony polyp has any one seen this before. i think the rock the polyp was on had a lot of alge on it and he might just be clipping some of them by mistake

No, they are EVIL!!!

I had a pretty nice polyp rock with all kinds of stuff on it. Over a few weeks it had less and less polyps on it. One day i go in and my dang emerald is looking right at me picking off a yellow polyp and eating it. He had eaten almost the whole little patch of them in just a few days.

Needless to say, he got a trip to the lfs and i will never get another. Without question, they will eat polyps just to make you :mad2: Oh, and my rock had absolutely ZERO algae on it so i know he was eating the yellows on purpose!

yeah the lfs guy said they are fine but im wathcing him right now hes eating the polyps and to think they sold it as a reef algea cleaner crew

They told me the same thing!

I dont care what ANYONE says, I know for a fact that they will definitely eat polyps since ive seen it with my own eyes.

My bugger used to "eat" my LR as well. I would watch him while he broke off little pieces and put it in its mouth for god knows what reason. He worked on this tiny hole the size of a bb until he had ripped an opening way bigger than a silver dollar:eek2:

I HATE those little buggers!

Mine in the past ate some pipe organ polyps. He leaves everything else alone, and never did any real damage to the pipe organ. He's still around in my tank. Just saw one of his molts today, but I don't often ever see him.
