Ok so my emerald crab has gotten pretty big and I know I don't have enough algea for him so I try to substitue with some seaweed... But this is the last straw! I just caught him eating my zoas... I was spying on the tank wiht a flash light as usual and I swear I saw him snacking on my polyps! Is it possible?

All crabs are oppertunistic feeders. I don't trust them in my tanks. I have seem emeralds lunge at sleeping fish before. The ones I had didn't even do what I added them for(bubble algae control). A rouge guerilla crab took care of them for me so it wasn't too bad. Then I took care of that rouge crab haha.

Congratulations Larah! LOL, you have broken the 1000 post mark! How about a porcelain crab as a replacement. I have been considering one for my tank, as what I have read makes them safe for FO or reef tanks.

I have quite a few bites out of my zoa had 4 crabs took me awhile to wise up taded them off now everything is recovering love crabs but I always make poor choices with them would love to know of one that istruely reef safe

I would have to agree with Norward on the porcelain crabs. I have one in my Nano and I love him! He hasn't bothered anything, can't say the same for the hermit crabs, they haven't eaten any corals that I know of but they sure do make a lot of corals angry crawling all over them.
