I bought this “Emerald” crab from my LFS today. When I got home and actually had a chance to look at it, I realized it looks a lot hairier than my current Emerald crab. Can anyone tell if this is an Emerald, Gorilla, or something else???
Be aware that some of these dangerous reef things can be very fun and rewarding to keep if you have a way. Rock crabs get big.
One of them got somewhat tame and came up so you could hand feed it if you went in the fish room.
Agreed, that it's an Emerald. Also agree with @wvned that some of the "dangerous/non-reef safe" critters can be fun. Years ago, Mantis shrimp were considered a horrible tank inhabitant and people recommended to get rid of them at all costs. Back in the 90s, I had one in my reef that I fed by hand and never had issues with him. Today, many people keep a dedicated tank for Mantis.
