emerald crab question

hey guys,not long ago i had two emerald crabs,one died out of the blue and everything else was and is ok.....sal. 1.026 and other levels at or near 0,couple weeks later,maybe less i moved some rocks around and i noticed a small whitish baby looking crab,no more then half a match stick end in size,almost didnt see him....i was wondering if by chance did the emerald crab lay eggs,they hatched and then the emerald crab died after laying the eggs,i have nothing else in my tank that could have had babies that look like that....that i know of anyway,thanks guys

Crabs have several babies at once and can hold sperm indefinitely to fertilize several batches of eggs. I highly doubt you would see just one baby from them, but it could be a Nemo crab and be a soul survivor. Also, crabs do not die after giving birth. Did the white crab look anything like an emerald? Did it have fuzzy legs or any special markings?

no its not because ive had the tank for a year now,havent added anything in maybe 7 months and this was a baby crab that i saw,but doesnt mean there arent more,its just that i saw him/her

JMO But it seems you have a CUC but nothing for them to survive off of like some or at least one fish. I'm sure you can get some reef Chromis for less than 5 bucks. Or maybe someone has a fish they are looking to get rid of. Tanks need life to survive not just crabs and shrimp.

tanks doing great,tons or coraline also,almost all my back wall is pink lol and i feed then things other then the algae too,cant get a fish as i have to set up my QT and im looking for2 clowns but if anyone has a fish to spare ill take em up on that lol
