I purchased an emerald crab at my LFS last night and I woke up this morning with scrapes all over my corraline algae from him, is this normal? Its quite unattractive.. So I have no clue on what to do.. Any ideas?
in my experience they generally don't go after corraline. i have a pair in my tank (they each keep to a side of the tank due to aquascaping) and just go after soft algae. could it be something else that is making the scrapes?
My emerald crabs have always munched on my corraline. They also decided to eat Ricordea mushrooms and other stuff. The corraline always seemed to grow quicker than they ate it though. So the only choices you have are: leave it there and deal with the scrapes, or take him out. They will eat whatever is available to them.
