Emerald for Trade

I have 2 emeralds in my 6 week old tank. I know they are supposed to be reef friendly but I think they are eyeing my 2 new ocellaris.

I am considering trading one of them, if anyone is interested. I am in Bellmore.

I live and teach in Bellmore. What are you looking for to trade? I have some bubble algae that the emerald crab might enjoy in my display that I have setup at school.

any coral frags? They did an awsome job on any traces of hair algae and a small section of bubble. But one got fairly big and it was eye balling my fish.

What school in Bellmore?

I teach at Mepham High School. I've got some capnella frags, sinularia a small bali slimer frag and a small millepora frag as well.

Cool - I will watch him over the next few days and keep you posted. I also want to read up on your frags before I commit.

Thanks -

On a seperate note where do you do most of your buying... I have had good and bad experiences in all the very close local stores. I haven't been that far out in suffolk.

We have a local reefers club that meets usually once a month. At these meetings, you can usually trade or buy coral frags at really good prices.

Also, here is a thread listing some local fish stores.

IMHO, the better ones to go see are PetsWarehouse, FishyInc and Aquahut.

I have a good relationship with the owner/employee's at Mutt's and Butts. Sometimes they have good stuff/deals, sometimes not. I'm patient and check to see what they are getting in periodically since they're local.

I haven't checked out many of the suffolk places. Only one I visited was PetsWarehouse. I was impressed with the clams they had, but not much else. Could have been bad timing on my part.

Local reefers are usually the best route. I've gotten some great stuff from people I've met through RC.

fortunatley I got him out; unfortunatley I think he went into shock from the temp of the water in the bucket I used.

I spent 3 days trying to get him, last night he was sitting on one of the top rocks so I pulled it and put it in a separate bucket. The water wasn't heated but was room temperature and he still didn't make it...
