EMERGENCY: Apex network setup

I'm leaving town for a week starting tomorrow morning. I factory reset my Apex to try and solve an issue I was having and now it won't connect to my router. I have everything plugged into it; return pump, skimmer, lights, ATO etc.

What setting does this thing need to be on to connect?

make sure your port forwarding adress is the same as the adress you pit in your router settings

log into your router and look at the port forwarding section. Also look at your network settings on your apex network setting and see what the adress is in your apex

I looked up my router through the command prompt and got my IPV4 address. Is that the one?
 
No you have to log into your router who is your provider / or router company it had its own adress you can look it up searching google

You don't need to worry about port forwarding to connect the Apex to the internet let alone Fusion. The only purpose port forwarding would serve is to allow you to connect to the defaults web interface that you would normally access via the IP address.

Is this the classic Apex or the Apex 2016? If classic, use the display to go to system/network and make sure DHCP in enabled. if it's enabled, that will get you connected to your network assuming you are hard wired to your router and not using a wireless bridge. If you are using a wireless bridge, then you first need to get that connected to your network.

Yes, it's hard wired and it is the now classic version. So the IP address doesn't matter at all? The only thing that needs to be checked is the DHCP?

If you enable DHCP and restart the Apex after saving the setting, the Apex will obtain in IP address along with the subnet and DNS from your router automatically. You can then get the IP address of the Apex via the network setting screen in the display. You can also enable Fusion via the display after which your Apex should be accessible via Fusion assuming you had it connected to Fusion prior the reset.

I did. I enabled the DHCP and restarted, but I still have the red exclamation on the Fusion.

Did you enable Fusion via the display like I mentioned above? You will need to do that in order for your Apex to connect to Fusion and then enable Fusion control if you want to be able to control or make programming changes via Fusion. They are off by default and will be off after a reset. I don't think you will need a new token since the Apex was already connected to Fusion prior to the update but the get started link I provided above describes how to get the new Token if it's even needed.

How do you enable it? I don't see an enable option. I can see my Apex on fusion, it just says reconnected.

So your Apex is now connected to Fusion again? If not, go to the display, go to system and look for Fusion and select that to enable it. That or go to the network settings screen and get the IP address of the Apex. Enter that in your browser followed by the port number which is 80. It should look something like this when type it into the web browser: 192.168.1.1:80 but change the 192.168.1.1 to match your Apex IP address. Then hit the config tag and go to network settings and enable Fusion and Fusion control.

As a side note, make sure you Apex is getting an IP address. Like I mentioned above, go to network setting on the display and check the IP address. If you set to DHCP and you're not getting an IP address, something else is going on and I would start checking your network connections and cable.
 
Subnet, tokens, DNS, DHCP... I haven't even taken my Apex out of the box yet for this reason. These words are like alien to me.

it really is pretty simple to connect if you read and follow the directions. It took me all of 5 minutes to get connected to my router. The programming on the other hand, took me months to finally figure out and get right.
 
Basic programming is easy, its when you get complicated that the programming language gets complicated.

What really threw me was the physical and virtual outlets. Once I figured out most things have both and which was which did the programming get much easier to figure out.
 
It's not that bad really. Once you done into the advanced side, it can get tricky. The forums for Neptune will really help. Writing the code is the worse, but for a basic setup it's not needed
