i have 2 friends who have a pair of seaponys that the male looks like he is gonna bust any day know!!what besides live brine shrimp babys do they need to suceed at this i suggested a bubble filter(sponge filter)and some plants (plastic) for the little guys to hitch up to and to have lots of premaid saltwater for changes but im no expert so if someone who has bred and raised seahorses before would be kind enough to point us in the right direction it would be appreciated they dont have internet so im the mediator thanks

What species are they? What size tank for the nursery? You might want to enrich the BBS with a vitamin supplement. Don't be disappointed if you lose some. I'm ready for my 4th attempt. Good Luck!

Species is important. Many seahorses have small pelagic fry that need to be fed rotifers as a first food.

Once you post more details, there are a number of breeders here who can help.

yuppers: heres a kinda-general guide: if they are lined-they are most likely erectus (not tail lines, but body lines) and will beable to hitch and eat bbs at birth.

if they are spotted, they are probably kuda or reidi, which don't hitch at birth and need rotifers for the first week or so.

I don't really know what else to say: I haven't had babies yet... I can send ya over to seahorse.org where the library will have more to say, I'm sure... I do know they'll need a seperate tank, and daily water changes (I think 2x a day)... removal of all the uneaten bbs during those water changes. things like that.

but, thats just 'general' stuff, not knowing the species is going to be hard!!!
