Emergency Need Help

75G RR tank. I went to change the filter sock on the drain line and I have a 1.5" bulkhead that is leaking. I cannot unscrew it. (probably due to sand traped in the threads). I don't know what to do. The nut won't budge! It has loosened a bit so there is no way I can start the tank up without removing it, and replacing it. Is there a way to break it without cracking the tank to get it out of there? It's plastic...not the heavy duty schedule 80.

If you have a dremel and a cutting wheel you might be able to carefully cut the nut off. Since you're replacing the whole thing it won't matter if you cut into the other part a little.

If the leak has any possibility of going catastrophic, getting the water and specimans moved out during repair might be a good idea, or at least know where some are in case you have to move fast. Boxes with food-safe plastic liner will serve in a pinch.
