My 1" drain bulkhead is leaking terribly on my 75 AGA RR. I bought the tank used two years ago and I cant tighten the bulkhead and I'm trying to figure out what to do. I shut the tank off and siphoned as much water as I could from the over flow but I can't get the 1" pipe out, I have know idea if it is thread or slip.
Any ideas out there for a quick fix? I have 1" thread / thread bulkhead

All the AGA durso kits come standard with slip bulkheads. That means the previous owner may have glued the durso pipe in place. You will have to cut the pipe below the tank, undo the jamb nut & pull the durso out from the top. Chances are that sand got between the rubber seal & the tank sealing surface, or the rubber seal is damaged.

Overtightening the jamb nut on cheap bulheads, will just cause a crack or stripped threads.

I had something similar happen to my 90. I would get all the water out of the overflow, dry it out and silicone/marine goop the crap out of it from the inside. Use a shop vac if you have one or a bunch of rags to get the remaining water out. Not the best solution, but if you can't get the jamb nut loose it will be a pretty easy fix. You'll be without your overflow and filtration for 24 hours.

get a dremel should be easy to cut the nut in 2 places will pop right off you can use a sawzall if your good with it the dremel would be the easiest and safest just cut the retaining nut vertically in 2 or 3 places then just pop it off with a screwdriver

I got the bulkhead off about 4:30pm today. I couldn't budge the thing, I cut my plumbing underneath the tank and it came off like it was greased? After a couple of trips to Ace and Menards, it's all plumbed and not leaking.
Couple of very weird things.
The water level in the overflow is going up and down perfectly in time. Weird thing is my 30 gallon cube thats plumbed into it is steady as can be. Before the leak, it was the 30 gallon cube that was up and down and the 75 was steady? I plumbed it almost exactly like I had it before. It's going to take some fiddling I think.

Thanks everyone for the advice!
