Emperor 400 or Aquaclear 500 w/ Macroalgae in it?

Hello Guys..
I am going to setup a 44 gallon reef sooner or later. I plan on using a Emperor 500 or an Aquaclear 500 to filter it. I was hoping to put cheato inside the filter with some small chunks of live rock so it would act as a fuge. My question is, what kind of light would be best for a small setup like this? I was thinking about buying the smallest Coralife PC that is made and putting that over the filter but I feel as if 18w would be too much. Any ideas?

My second question.. Which filter would be better for me? The Emperor or the Aquaclear? I think I am going to go with the Emperor since I will be able to have pads on one side, and on the other I could have the cheato and small chings of live rock- and I still will have biological filtration (the biowheels).

Any tips? Please share. Id appreciate it.
Thanks.

you could try using the 13 watt diy PC bright kits sold at:

ahsupply.com

they sell for a fair price, i believe that its $18 + bulb, which is about 6$

i would try these since they are the things lighting my nano.

good luck.
