Emperor Angel with Hole in the head

It's been a few months since I've been on RC...This is actually the first weekend I have seen my tank since December. All the fish look great except my Emperor Angel has Hole in the head...

I've read up and it doesn't look like there is an actual cure... my fish guy and LFS told me the best to do is just add more sponge to the diet. I always have had sponges in the tank for my angels to feed off, except for the last few months. I added some sponges to the tank yesterday and my fish guy is going to bring more over later this week when I head back up north.

Has anyone gone through this and have any advice? I'm trying to take a picture but as usual the Emp won't stay still!

Thanks All.

It takes time to heal and the best thing from past experience has been more frequent water change and soak food in selcon/vita-chem. Also offer nori soaked with vitamin everyday. Good luck!

btw--how's the personifer doing? Any stripe yet?

feed frozen broccoli florets and frozen Angelfish formula. Feed heavy but keep water clean. In other words, run a skimmer and perform regular water changes. Back off carbon.

Thanks flame. The Personifer is looking great. Gained a lot of weight and there is a little stripe coming in. How's yours doing? Any new additions?

Glad to hear the personifer is doing well and I'm sure it's wonderful to see the stripe forming.

The two are doing well but the stripes on both kinda faded and have to look close to see. Not sure what caused this where the stripe formed nicely then faded on both and the duration was the same on both as to the stripe coming and going. I added a grey tail and blue spotted angels to the smaller reef tank since the DT is already packed.

Yea the stripe on mine has apparently been in and out.. Don't know the cause.

I almost picked up the Conspic on LA DD but 6 1/2" is just too big.. I like my angels small to start.

And awesome additions! How is the grey tail?

I think a 3.5" conspic would be awesome but your fishes are getting big too.

The greytail doesn't like too much light and hangs out in the shaded area most of the time. Honestly I haven't seen it eat but it grew a bit and more plumb now then when I received it 17 days ago. I've corals and lots of pods to pick off so I'm not worry yet.

besides the angelfish formula, how would i go about getting sponge to feed the angelfish?

i have a 3.5" adult blueface and about same size emperor juvie

Read up on the Regal Angel Primer where 'Finsky' had success treating early stage of HLLE on his Regal with vitamin C (believe make by Kent but don't hold me to this).

The link is here but more info may be prior to pg 109. Sorry, I just don't have time to look that far back.

Thanks flame. I have Vitamin C which is added to the tank weekly and also is soaked with food occasionally.

LA has sponges for sale. It is quite expensive as a food but I like to buy them and stick them in the tank. My angels love them and it is as natural as you can get.

but your fish still developed HLLE?

have you ever tried broccoli florets and Angelfish formula? (Do a search.)

As stated above the tank didn't have any sponge in it for a few months. Completely my fault I never told my fish guy I did that and he only does what he is paid to do!

I will look at the broccoli florets. Thanks!
