Emperor Angelfish... Holiday wish

My 180 currently hosts a Bluejaw pair, Chromis, False Clown Pair and a Small Vlamingi. I am thinking of adding an Emporer Angelfish to my tank. I got one before, but a horrible disease wiped out the tank.

A year later I want to get another one, I have read a few sites, but I wanted to know if you all felt that a 180 is too small for this guy? Let me know.

To be honest I think your Vlamingi tang wil outgrow your tank within a year or so. I have one in my 450 and he's about 14-16" and I think he's getting to the point of may going to the Shedd. As for the Emp I would get one around 4-5 " just so he don't get picked on, and just remember to Qt him since Angels are very common for internal flukes, good luck with all your new fish.

I don't think you can keep one for life in 180 but you could probably keep it for a while. Minimum I've seen people recommend is a 240 for those guys.

I had an 11" Vlamingi that I gave to someone that had a 500 gallon system. He is doing well there. After a while he gave me his vlamingi that was in the sump. It is maybe 5", but growing. As for the Emperor, I have seen people say 240 is a better system, then again other websites say that a 180 would work.

+1. and FWIW, the 2 Emperor's I've kept, were mean S.O.B.s, definitely ruled the tank.
