Empoerer angel sick

First off I'll start by saying I'm new to saltwater fish keeping about 8 months in the hobby.
I have a adult Empoerer that has been rubbing (flashing) on substrate and rocks, approximately for about a week. Some symptoms he is displaying, erratic swimming fast breathing, twitching shaking of the head. Not showing any external parasites I.E ich. I've had the fish and it has been healthy for 2 months.

I understand I need to quarantine the fish, what medications should I be using in the quarantine? How long? Thanks in advance! Jason.

Tank info.
125 FOWLR
Running for 6 months
Ph 8.2
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 10-20

Tested with an API kit also what are the recommendations for a better test kit? I know they are known to be unreliable.

It could still be ich, even if it doesn't show the typical white spots.
Another possibility would be velvet (I'd rather hope for ich).
Finally it could also be flukes.

If this fish was the last wet item addition, ich is the most likely contender as it can lay dormant or go unnoticed for weeks or even months.
To cover all I would recommend TTM with formalin baths during the transfers. You might also add PraziPro.

Ok thanks about the test kits, yes he is eating, actually quite well and a everything I put in.

Actually it wasn't the last addition I believe a tang I added was the culprit.

RoeWer, excuse my ignorance. But what is TTM and formalin? And where can I order it? I am still fairly new to this, I try to stay out of the LFS for advice because all they say is feed it garlic and if it dies come get another one!

TTM stands for Tank Transfer Method, a way to rid fish of ich by moving them to a new clean tank every 3 days for two weeks - search the forum, there are plenty of threads describing it in detail.

Formalin is used in short, 30 to 60 minute baths to kill skin parasites like Amyloodinium (velvet), Brooklynella, Uronema and flukes. These baths are best administered before you even add a new fish to your quarantine tank. In combination with TTM you would do formalin baths when transferring fish from on to the next tank. Again, search the forums for the details.
