Hydnophora grandis

Disagree 100%, the LFS in this area has this coral in one of it's displays. So many of the hobbiest in this area also have this coral, including myself. It grows like crazy and is not an Encrusting monti. I have had hydnophora both branching and plating this is not hydnophora sp. It is some kind of elkhorn coral, or something similar.

I have a hydno, this one the pic is not the same. Look at the shape of the polyps.

Can u please find out from your pet store the name and let me know? I was also leaning towards elkhorn but the branches are thin in comparison.

Great thanks. I have looked at more pics of the hirsuta...seemingly I reckon it IS the hirsuta.

thanks guys for the positive ID
