Energy efficient return pump?

Are any variable return pumps more energy efficient than others? I used a kill a watt on my jebao Dct 7000 (running at 2 dots) and it's pulling 24watts at that setting. At my socal tier 2 rate that's $50/month.

where are you located for 24w to equal 50.00 a month... I hope you do not need Heaters or lights for your tank..

Oops that includes heater and ato. I'm running it again with just the pump. But in general are the more expensive pumps any better with power consumption ?

This hobby is expensive. I hit 400 a month a lot of time and that's with solar.

A smaller older style lightbulb used 45w. Now a CFL, uses 6-11.

I pay about 8 cents for a Kwh.
Elo5000 it would cost about 57 cents a day to run your tank at my house.

Notice my rate is per Kilowatt.

Get solar panels. Hands down the best investment you can make for your house. Better than insulating or Windows or high efficiency heat or ac. I got a 9.8kw system at my house. I have old mag pumps as a return. Metal halide for lighting. Electricity is not an issue or a thought.

That being said I feel like 25 watts for return is pretty good. My skimmer pump on my 60 gallon pulls 73 watts alone.

We have a tier here in Ca and it just went up again. I am in tier 3 and my bill is low at 175 and up to 250 for 8 months a year and that is with a 1300 sq ft house, no pool.

You are not going to get any better than that. If you have it external, then submerge it and you can save a few bucks on heating.
