Engineer Goby Question !

I just got a engineer goby about 8" long. Nice fish but keeps burrowing a lot.
I have my LR set on glass bottom and then added sand so its ok I guess.

Issue is he is stirring up all the silt and tank is always cloudy. I only have a 1 to 2" thick sand bed. Dont use a filter sock, just octo150 skimmer.

Will all the silt be collected by skimmer , will the situation improve at all?

But its a cool fish looks like an eel!

Pls share and advice ...thx -kris

yeah they will dig forever thus the name. The sand will settle down over time but they will ALWAYS move it around. great tank mate for sure I love them.

Mine only dug for a week or two when first added, then only when I move stuff around.

In my experiance once they get the tunnels done they will stop. The only times they dig now is when I move rocks on the sand around or add frags near the holes(which they usually steal or move)

I have the same issue w. my diamond goby, tank is always cloudy now. If the fish wasnt so entertaining to watch, it would annoy me a lot more.

I agree. I have had one for years (11" long now). Very cool fish. I just plan for the sand moving and don't put corals near caves he digs.
