Engineer goby questions

1. Are they jumpers? I know gobies are jumpers and have lost 2 in the past. Since these guys technically aren't gobies are they still jumpers or no?

2. Is my rock structure safe? When I setup my 220 i laid eggcrate across the bottom of the tank before putting the rock in. I know the bottom rocks are stable but my rocks towards the top aren't very stable and wobble if bumped hard enough. Will I be safe?

Mine only stays in the bottom half of my tank.
As long as the rocks on the bottom are stable you should be fine

IME if you get engineers young, they tend to swim around a bit looking for a spot to call home. Once they find their spot, you may not see them for awhile. I would suspect that when small and still swimming around the tank, they may jump if spooked or taunted by other fish, but when they disappear, look along the bottom rock edge of your tank for their burrow.

I think the only time I would worry about one jumping is if it was in a bare bottom tank. As far as rock work is concerned. Just make sure it's stable and set on the bottom of your tank. I went as far as making PVC support structures that go inside of my rocks to keep my engineer from toppling everything.

the bottom feels sturdy. like I said when i did the aquascape I laid down egg crate at the bottom so it is going to be harder to get under the rock completely. maybe its not a great idea for n engineer???
