Enough Light??

I have heard that clams require more light than SPS. I have a 75 G BB with a few SPS in there. For lighting I have 2 x 175W MH, 2x 65W PC Actinic, 2x 65W PC 10K. Is that enough light for me to put one on the bottom. Also, which clams should I stay away form in terms of ones that NEED sand. Something I dont have.

TIA,

Dave

I would think a Deresa would be a good starter clam for you. They normally are down on the sand bed, but I've seen people with BB to get them to attach to a flat rock. Maxima's like to attach to the rock work, so you could go that route, but I would suggest putting it up atleast half way up your tank directly under the MH. They are a bit more difficult and require more light. You could also try the flat rock trick with a Squamosa which have lower light requirements.

with your lights i think you'd be fine with a deresa or squamosa on the bottom.... croceas i'd say put on the rockwork in the top 40 percent of the tank or so under the MH. Goodluck :)

I have 4 110 wat VHO's and 260 watts of CF. My tank is 24" deep. Do you think this is enough to grow a clam? I know this is off topic biut I'd also like to add an open brain. Enouh light?

Sorry bout the spelling. my fingers just don't seem to be working right tonight
