epoxy for glueing rocks together???

Hey gang!

I am tired of my snails knocking over my frags. Frags are glued to 1inch by 1 inch piesec of LR. I want to glue those little pieces to the big LR in my tank without pulling the big rocks out.

What should I use for "underwater" glueing/epoxying?

Thanks!

Go to Home Depot and pick up some AquaMend. It's only a couple bucks for a stick. Just break off a piece and knead the 2 parts together. I use it all the time to stick my frags to the rock work. Cures under water. Just unplug your skimmer for a while if you use a lot at a time.

I used AquaMend when I aquascaped. It is great stuff because it doesn't make your skimmer go nuts.

On the flip side, I just ordered some of the expensive red stuff from live aquaria. Like you, I am now affixing frags to large pieces, and regular epoxy dries too white imo to be front and center.

I have always used the fish store type grey, about 10 bucks. How much do you get for 10 at home depot?

At Home Depot you can use either Plumbers Epoxy(dries grey) or AquaMend(dries white). For around 2 dollars you get a 2 oz tube of it.

I have used aquamend and other epoxy brands and prefer the Deltec epoxy as it is purple in color and exactly matches my coraline. It is a PITA to mix unless you microwave it, but it does not make my skimmer go nuts. If your epoxy is going to show, I would recommend taking a look at it.

Won't it eventually all get covered with either frag tissue or coralline given enough time??

Plumbers Epoxy dries under water, it's probably the same stuff you buy at the LFS at more of a cost. It's usually right next to AquaMend at Home Depot. Just be careful not to get the stuff in the plumbing aisle. It says it contains steel. This stuff is down were they keep the glues. I've not seen any ill effects using it, I do like AquaMend better, although it takes awhile for the white to blend into your tank's rock work.
