epson salt

I have a few questions about using it. Is it a good practice or is it a cheap way of adding magnesium.And if its a good way what is the ratio of mixing it and will it add po4.Oh and is there any special kind i should look for. thanks

Check out Randy's article on the Two Part Calcium additive. The 'third' part of it is epsom salt I believe.

Adding just epsom salt and not mag flakes along with it can have adverse affects on your system... Check out this article and it will explain everything....

Using strictly epson salt, or Magnesium Sulfate, can result in elevated sulfate levels in the tank. This can be managed by more frequent water changes. A mixture of Magnesium Chloride and Magnesium Sulfate is the best course of action.
