Well its been a few months since I had the club meeting at my place and I've added a few new items to my filter room and figure I would Post a few pics for an update

Additions since the meeting include:
1. The refugium in the upper left of the pics" Its my old sump from the 90's that I used on a 125 gal "

2. Neptune aqua controller pro "presently only being used as a monitor because I don't trust the X-10 system, planning on getting some hardwire units. I also at one time was able to access the unit via aquanotes but since I change my server and got a hardwire firewall I haven't yet worked all the bugs out!"

3. Rainbow lifeguard system to include UV sterilizer, Heater module and two filter media canisters that I'm presently running phos-ban in " This is also left over from my system I had in the 90's "

4. And the newest addition, the MRC MR-5 Skimmer " Just got done installing it today, Had to do a complete redesign of my layout to make it fit but worked out well. I picked this up used from a fellow reefer here on RC, This was a serious upgrade from what I had and looks like its going to work great!"

5. And not picture but hope to get this week is a 300mgh Ozonizer to replace my 100mgh that cant keep up.

Looks like I'm going to have to have a meeting soon

Check out the Pic's !

Sweet.

You know, now I have to upgrade again.

In the last picture, in the pipe that is angled downward, what is tie wrapped to the pipe. I don't have one of those...

whats with the bio balls? IS this a reef tank or fish only?
Nice and clean looking setup btw
Erik

Its a Reef system.....Where else should I put bio balls " a bucket, box, EBay, garbage "? Lots of debate on them I know. I'm open to opinions and links to more info on this!

I've read the same articles... Everything is debatable. Why not use a bit of everything.... I mean...

DSB's were all the rage... then BB's. and then....? Every setup has it's merits. What works for me, won't nesscarily work for everyone else. I've found on thing for certain, NO one filtration technique is solely responsible for anyones success. A skimmer by it selt will not do the complete job, some mechanical, and some biological is needed.

Wet/Dry, Skmmer and test equiptment, Refugium, Sponge, and sump. and return. Chemical filtration is comming.
