Equipment recommendations?

I have 15gal nano. I'm tired of buying water from the LFS. Also my protein skimmer broke down not too long ago.

Can I get recommendations of small rodi unit every one I've seen are huge. Also what would be a good skimmer for such a small tank? With reasonable pricing? (just started attending college so haven't had the chance to upgrade back then.)

For the RODI, look at the mighty mite. I've used one in the past and it was excellent for small scale production.

IMO a skimmer is not needed on a tank that small as long as regular water changes are done. My kids have run 14 and 29 gallon bio cubes successfully and never used a skimmer.

It will be hard to have the dollars add up for such minimal water changes and evaporation. I would recommend continuing to buy at $1 a gallon mixed and $.50 a gallon plain you will have a hard time recouping costs.

I agree with the guys, no point of rodi system unless your planning to upgrade in near future. I had 28g jbj cube, ran it for 2 1/2 years without skimmer or rodi unit. Everytime i went to get water i grabbed 5 x 5g jugs and it lasted me a momth or so.
