I have a 90 gallon tank and was wondering what type of protein skimmer and filtration systems would be real good for a reef tank.

ASM G3 for the skimmer. Look in the selling forums down a little ways and you can usually pick one up cheap.

I've used the ASM G3x and my H&S skimmer runs circles around it. A good choice would be the H&S A110 (recirculating) or 110 (non-recirculating, in sump only).

With that budget you can get a nice skimmer. I'd highly recommend the Tunze 9010 or the A110 that UCanDoIt mentioned. I've owned both and they're both excellent skimmers.
