Erectus v. Reidi

Hi, I'm in the market for a pair of horses and I'm trying to decide between a pair of erectus or a pair of reidi. Besides the comparative difficulty in raising reidi fry is there any real difference between the two species? I've noticed that reidi specimens typically tend to have brighter colors than erectus (fully aware that seahorses change colors). Are there any noticeable personality differences? Is one species more active or personable than the other?

Thanks!

I have only kept erectus but my friend who has both reidi and erectus says the erectus have more personality but the reidi are more colorful.

Reidi have spots and are , usually, longer and thinner and typically less hardy. I have kept both and I think that the Reidis are more regal. Unless you are planning on trying to raise fry I prefer Reidis. Personal preference is probably the most important criteria though. Paul

I vote for erectus - but biased as I have only tried s. erectus - I am sorry I can't remember all the sources now but I settled on s. erectus based on hardiness, easier fry to raise (hitch at birth and take bbs at birth) and for me they it was easier to obtain cb locally

good luck w/ the ones you choose
