ERROR using FR Flasher !! HELP!!

Hi,

So I got my p3 a couple months ago and finally decided to get it out of the box lol.....I decided to try a firmware update first.....this is when I was told I would need a USB to serial port adapter. I purchased one from futureshop and installed the included drivers and hardware. Using the fr flasher I tried to update firmware to 5.13 but every time I go to update it says to push reset (which is where you plug in the power) and when I insert power cord I get ERROR!! No. 001 Download error
I am using windows 7 enterprise 64bit OS.
I am able to connect the profilux to the profilux control software using my serial adapter but nothing seems to work in fr flasher..... I have tried a bunch of diff things and sent Michael at aqua digital numerous screenshots and emails....my adapter uses the pl2303 chip and I have downloaded the latest drivers from prolific website.....still same problem....
Going to try a few things again tomorrow but if anyone can offer some advice or help is much appreciated. I have not tried to do a firmware update using the profilux control software because I am afraid of it messing up and then having no choice but fr flasher....
In device manager I can see the adapter connected to comm3 and there is also a comm1 communications port as well as a lpt1 port. It has been suggested that I maybe get an internal adapter to add a serial port to my ASUS mb because I have been told this is what that comm1 will be. Also was suggested that I enter bios setup and disable both the comm1 and lpt1 ports. Another suggestion is that I am missing drivers for something......seems weird how it connects though using the profilux software.....anyone have any more ideas or experience the same thing??

I have windows 7 professional and I don't think there should be any problems with enterprise, assuming that you have administrator privileges!
I can't say I have used the FR flasher tool so don't have any recommendations there? Apart from try the profilux support forum (GHL one) or request a support ticket at the support site!

But I have used the profilux control software very successfully to update the firmware many times.
If you have good communications with the serial USB adapter. Meaning that every thing you do is working including changes, time updates and up load/download of parameters and settings, then you should not have any problems with updating the firmware using PLC.
The very first time I did an update I did have troubles, in that it would always time out before it would begin. Problem was you need to push the enter key on the Profilux as soon as the request comes up to download prior to update button on the PC.
As far as changing the Comm ports, it is easy enough and I don't think having to add another card will help at all.
I have PLC communicating with Comm 4, so that should not be an issue for you.

Like I said If you can communicate with the profilux using PLC, then the comms port and cable seem to be OK.

In the device manager, if the driver is working correctly, the port should should up as pro filitic (or something like that) adapter and have the port number behind the text.

If this is not working, I suggest downloading the latest driver for the chipset of the web and see if you can get it loaded there.

You also need to make sure your parameters are the same on the profilux as the comm port. Baud, stop bit, etc.

Check all that out and if still no good leave another post.
 
Well like I said I had no problems communicating with the profilux using the profiluxcontrol software.....which at many times has made me wonder if it is an issue with fr flasher itself.....I would love to hear from someone running windows 7 with the USB to serial adapter and fr flasher.....have you ever used it? If not, then you should download it and try......
I returned the USB adapter and have purchased an extension adapter to go straight off my motherboard to a serial port on back of tower......this has already been deemed comm1 on my system.....as I believe I mentioned above about turning it off in bios....anyways either way just a major price difference between the two if you do have that option..... My USB to serial adapter was 65 at future and this one is 7.95 lol. Are you also using the USB to serial adapter to connect? Mine is a prolific and the chip is a pl2303..... I downloaded the latest drivers like I said right from their site. I honestly tried everything........no one seems to know.....I will try again when I get my new adapter.....would love to get some more support on this!

Just to answer your question about the flasher - it works and has worked for years, its no different, also I use an adapter from F-shop with no isssues for the past 5 years - I run W7

What is the third site? I guess it could be the ghl profilux official main site but I haven't posted there yet like you told me to. Email.....let's be serious you can't call that an open thread lol.....you can't help me any further and told me to post on the official ghl forum......is that an open email thread?? Haha
I don't see why I am not free to post on whatever forum I wish.....is there a problem here? I don't see where I have gone wrong or broken any forum rules by posting. I only have the threads open on RC and northamericanprofilxsupport but haven't received much feedback. Of course I emailed you Michael but as far as I am concerned you cannot help my any further....I am going to take your advice and post on the German ghl forum.....hopefully I will get more feedback there aside from you telling me to just email you....

I am just asking if you can keep to one support channel, I spent most the weekend helping you with a total of 26 emails sent from you and 64 total communications. So to make my life a bit easier when I am getting so many emails which are all replied to within a matter of seconds I am just asking for one support channel for us to follow up on as I am not sure where I am supposed be posting support next :(

The reason you received no feedback from the thread on the profilux forum is beacause I run it and was busy replyng to your emails over the weekend on the same subject.

You seem to have a very unique issue not being able to connect to the flash tool, we or GHL have never seen this before, there must be something blocking the port in your microsoft system.

I am very happy to carry on support through the email trail we have right now. If others wish to help you here i am more than happy for them to take over also, whichever works best for you.

You have done nothing wrong I am just asking you if you could keep to one support channel for simplicity.
