eshine systems 150w fixtures

If your talking about a the 4G 48X3w fixture, I would say 2. I'm guessing you want the simulator that's definitely the way to go. If you don't care about the simulator, i'd go with 2 smaller units like the 36X3w or even 2 24X3w's would probably be enough. I would send an e-mail to eshine and see what they suggest, but take what they say with a grain of salt, since they want to take your money ;). Just think about the dimensions of the light + the dimensions of your tank and make your decision. Penetration shouldn't be an issue, i'd worry more about the spread of the lighting. Good luck!

I have 1 50x3w Over a 40 breeder about 8 inches above the tank and the ends are a little shadowy but that's where I put the LPS. For an extra 6 inches per side I'd get two. I'm actually thinking of getting another one to put over my breeder

??

so you are thinking of putting 2 on a 40 breeder and i should put 2 on my 120
is there a concept i am missing here as far as the capability of these fixtures?

No i just want more light I was thinking of adding more variety of colors more whites less blue. I like the light spilling out into the room much better than the CFL's we use for main lighting in that part of the house. Concept wise with two they'd be overlapping in the middle so you would get more light towards the long ends of the tank. I really don't think 2 of the 24x3 would be enough. Also think about what lenses you want with 2 ft deep. I'm using 90 but you'd probably need 60 so again you'd need 2. 3 would be overkill.
