ethernet or serial

I have a ACIII with aquanotes, my question is should I hook it up via ethernet to my router and then to the computer or use the serial port. If I hook it up with the ethernet will I be able to use th aquanotes software. So I guess my main question is will the ethernet cable work as the serial cable?

If you have ACIII you will need the latest AquaNotes and you can do everything vie ethernet net. Serial is not needed.

I believe it is the 3.1 aquanotes, will this one do?

Yes, AquaNotes 3.1 supports the 3 Pro through the ethernet port.
