I have the ETS sump and Reef Devil skimmer combination and am having trouble with the skimmer.. Im having a really hard time getting a good column of bubbles.

It is being run by the pump it came with from ETS CA 1800.
I have tried:
cleaned the foam refraction tube over an d over
adjusting the exiting valve for the water level

Scott,

I have an ETSS Evolution 500 external on a ETSS UHF 72 sump and what works for me is to set the water in the column to the recomended line and wait. The skimmer needs time to break in. after about 24-48 hours you will see foam. Make small adjustments (1/8 turn or less) to get wet (clockwise) or dry (counterclockwise) foam. After an adjustment is made you need to wait another 24 hours. After you feed it will stop foaming, if you put your hands in the tank it will stop foaming, if you dose a large amount of additives at once it will stop foaming. It allways starts right back so be patient.

I have the reef devil deluxe with the same pump. You don't want to keep cleaning everything or the skimmer will never break in. Just set the water level just underneath the black box and let it run for a couple of days, you should get foam in the column, if not make small adjustments, or 1/4 turns, close the gate valve and let run for another day, and you should be ok.

patience

I have no complaints. They even put custom bulkheads in whatever location to suit your needs. NO microbubbles, no complaints.
