ETSS...skimmer question

there will b need to just got this collector bout 3 days. Any suggestions on amount and should i use a baggy?

Buy the cheapest carbon possible.Fill the basket all the way to the top.Leave no space.Dont use a baggie.Just pour it in.Gary at Aetech told me since the carbon wont be in water to buy the cheapest available.I replace my carbon every 6 months.Could probably go longer.

A question for you guys/gals. I am just about to get my tank up and running. My goal is to cycle the tank, get some starter fish, and in the future add some corals. I have been considering the Reef Devil Deluxe with a mag7 pump. Is the a good way to go? My set-up consists of an AGA 90gal. and an AGA model 3 sump, L/R, L/S...

Thanks, Dave

i dont have an air intake control valve. ETSS never says anything about them.

i have seen people do what you say about having another hole in the top, but my problem is that when the air comes out easily, it doesnt skim all that well

what pump are you using with this skimmer? you should be using at least a mag 7, or other similar gph pressure pump, preferably an external pump.

if you have a problem with your container overflowing than use a bigger one, because your skimmer simply will not perform correctly with the waste line submerged. your performance problems are probably pump related.
also, when you throttle back the air intake with a valve(to about 1/8"), you will get more stable foam, less "burping", and more productive skimmate. etss doesnt mention this because it doesnt fit with their set and forget selling point.

My skimmer came with air intake valves. The grey knobs on top of the downdraft tubes.I ditched them for wide open elbows.More air flow.
