Eunice sp. of some sort...

So I found a real evil looking work poking his head out of my LR last night. And I just got used to my bristle worms!

However, this one kind of bugs me and from what I have read could potentially be measured in feet which freaks me out. I have only seen maybe an inch of this ugly, ugly, thing.

The only thing he has going for him is that its pretty irridescent when I shine my lights on it. Is this thing going to eat anything important? Will it grow to mosterous proportions? Should I remove it, and how? I tried to get it with tweezers but it would't have it. What are your experiences?

but it is just a single color... looks maybe purple or black w/ orangish feelers. Has red eyes when I shine the light as well, which makes it look like some unholy demon. Thanks!

Has it eaten anything important yet? It's hard to know what an individual Eunice will eat. Some are predators, others are omnivores, detritivores, herbivores, etc. The chances are the larger it gets the more likely it is to be a predator on both free living and sessile organisms. Size? Again, it's hard to predict how large yours will get. Some species never get larger than a few inches at most while a few species can be over 10 feet long. Eunicids are long-lived for polychaetes and people have reported keeping individual worms up to 12 years..
