Euphyllia compatibility Misconception!!

You always hear people saying that euphyllias can be kept together without stinging because it is in the genus and doesn't harm each other. Well that's not 100% true from my experience.

I just moved a torch coral closer to a hammer/frogspawn garden since I have that idea of euphyllia being safe with its own kind and not harming each other, also it looks good with the garden. But I stand corrected, the torch RIPPED off a tentacle from the hammer. I noticed a couple of the hammer coral's tentacles deflated whilst the rest are fine. The tentacles were stuck onto the torch. So I gently move them apart and a 'hammer' tip tore off from tentacle. Good thing I didn't leave it alone for long or else the whole head would've died.

The tip has been ripped off.

Its here

Sorry for the bad quality pics..

Torches don't play well with others. I had an Indo hammer stinging an Aussie hammer recently & had to move things around a little.

I've always seen it said to keep torches at a distance from hammers and frogs, and that hammers and frogs USUALLY play nice together. Glad you caught it when you did!

Oh, I have read that torches are the most aggressive euphyllia but they can still be kept with other euphyllias, that's the first page of Google when I search "Torch coral and hammers"
