Was a little bored today, so I went out to my Stepdad's shop.

I plopped this cup on the drill press and cut a hole. Then I tapped the hole and screwed in a street 90.

I used all 1/2" fittings.

This is a great mod, and not that difficult if you have the right tools.

How do you have the skimmer shut off in case of overskimming?

I don't, really. Thats part of what the drain is for. In case anything makes the skimmer go crazy, it won't overflow (unless it overflows the new collection container).

Rafael,

thanks... much more good stuff to come :D

So next logical question: How bigz yer collection container?

Looks like you got boatloads of room to work with in your stand...

For now I'm just using an old large b-ionic container. I'll probably try to get some sort of acrylic container going on, but I'm not sure if I want to make it, or spend the money to buy one.

But yes, I made the stand extra tall and wide for equipment and sump space. I still think I could have gone a couple of inches taller.... :D

how did you get that mod for the riser pipe. or did it come like that.and whats the purpose of it being like that with the red valve(if thats the name?)

I like it. Its pretty quiet for what you get. You can't really hear much of anything but a hum. Its mainly the fan on the back of the pump. I'd buy another for sure.

Its a new sump :D

Actually, the tank that was in my room was converted into my new sump, and the old sump was given to rafael13.
