Euroreef Problem

So every couple weeks, my euroreef pump comes off the body of the skimmer because the gasket isnt on very tight. This hasnt been a hug problem in the past, as each time it would happen id put some electrical tape around the flange and it would last a couple weeks. Well, last night the pump came off again but instead of shooting bubbles inside the sump, it shot straight up in the air and got water all over the carpet.

I know this is sort of a common problem with euroreefs. What have you guys done to solve it?

TIA,
Theo

Have you try to use the PVC pipe to connect the pump to the skimmer's body? I have CS8-2 with Sedra 9000 and never have problem with the pump coming off. I actually have problem taking it apart.

Yes, there is PVC that connect to the pump. The problem is where the PVC connects to the flange and the body of the skimmer. Anyone else have any suggestions?

Sorry guys, no pics. Ill try one more time to describe the problem. So on the body of the skimmer, there is a rubber flange that connects to some PVC and ultimately to the pump. What is happening is that the rubber flange has become really loose over the years and now the when the pump is turned on, the force pulls the pump and thus the flange off the body of the skimmer. I think the zip tie might be a viable solution and i will try that. I was tempted to weld on a piece of PVC to the body of the skimmer and be done with it but i like the zip tie option.

Any other suggestions ROAB?

Uniseal is pretty cheap. You are using the 1" one right? I can give you one. I work in SF downtown. PM me if you want it.

Yeah, it was flange that was confusing me. A uniseal will be the answer to your problems, as Elite stated.

yeah, agree with elite, if its the uniseal, just replace it as it seems like too much of a hassle and too costly (mess all over the place) for a cheap part. have a ER and never had that problem..
