Euroreef problems

On april ninth I purchased an Euroreef 12-1. It has been working really well until a couple of days ago. One of the pumps quit working. I removed the pump and soaked it over night in vinegar, rinsed it in warm water and it still didn't work. I then removed the impeller cover and really cleaned the inside. The impeller spins when the cover is not on but as soon as I put the cover on it stops spinning.

What do I need to do to get my skimmer working again? I am a little concerned that after only 3 months my very expensive skimmer is now not working.

Thanks

HI Jill,

Thank you for the update on the skimmer. It may sometimes be build up in the pump, and usually a good cleaning will clear things up so the pump would work again. The unit is still covered under the manufacturer's warranty and we can provide you a copy of the invoice if needed. Euro Reef can be contacted via phone at 949.770.9913 or email at info@euro-reef.com.

Please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with.

Well now the other pump quit working. I will soak it in vinegar tomorrow. Apparently Euro Reef is on vacation till after July 4th. I am not happy about having to go two-three weeks without a skimmer.

Hi Jill,

We apologize about the problems you are having with the skimmer. We ourselves just found out about Euro-reef closing until July 5th. As for the pumps, it is quite rare for two pumps to stop working that quickly. You may want to check the calcium build up in the pumps and/or limit the amount of dirt that can get to the skimmer. Any dirt (detritus/sand/rocks) can be very damaging to your pumps.

Please keep us updated with your progress. In the meanwhile, I will check to see if we have any other contact information for Euro Reef to get further help.

I believe I mentioned that both pumps were soaked in vinegar and thoroughly cleaned. There was not much buildup inside before I cleaned them.
