EuroReef RC1000 skimmer for a 240g?

Hey all - I'm looking at a EuroReef RC1000 skimmer (with 3 GenX 2000 pumps to start) for $1k.

I'm torn between that and an ATB cone.

I realize the RC1000 is worth more with eheims, but I figure I can use other pumps (eheims/lagunas?)... my question is, is this skimmer worth the price at this steep discount, even without the better pumps?

This will be for a 240g display with a 200g sump.

I am running an ER RC 1000 on my 520g (TWV 600g) and it is doing a great job. But I am running 3x 1262 ehiems and 1x GenX 6000.

I think the GenX 2000 are under powered for such a large bodied skimmer.

Hey Typhon. I didnt realize you were running one of these - I'm in good company.

I'm getting one with 3x GenX2000 pumps.

Any modding or upgrade suggestions?

I'm buying it for $1000, so I'm willing to put more into it to get better results.

That is a great price!! Is it new?

Actually never had to do anything to the skimmer. Work perfect out of the box. Oh, I did have to replace the ball valve because it began to leak. You might want to replace the ball valve with a gate valve.

And upgrading the pumps would help greatly.

Well, its used unfortunately. The price is killer. I'm looking at meshmodding right away, then maybe adding the 4th pump (one of the GenX pumps is dead).
