Evansi Anthias Quarintine or not?

I'm concidering buy 4 female Evansi Anthias and a male that are at the LFS that look healthy and are eating well.

Know I understand that the are one of the harder Anthias to keep. Is this simply because they are hard to get to eat or much more?

I read once that their colors don't hold up well and they fade out over time. Is his true with all or would that be because of the care / food / lighting being provided?

They will be going into my 120g but Im pretty sure Ive read before that Anthias don't tolerate being Quarintined well. I would assume if this is true it's somthing to do with the eating. I read severel times they they learn to eat for
Other fish. The Monky see Monky do thing. Is that correct or am I thinking of another fish?

Thanks for the help.

Mine came from LiveAquaria and were quarantined for 4 weeks with Prazi by themselves. They did just fine in QT. I keep them in a 250G with 2x400W MH. Color has not changed. They eat smaller mysis and cyclopeeze. They are great fish.

Did you Quarintine them or did live aquaria? If you did care to elaberate on Quarintine tank size and any other tip you might have?

Marina...they are gorgeous!
Thank you :)

Gorgeous. Nice picture too. How often do you feed them?
Thank you. They eat 3 times a day - morning, afternoon and evening.

I QT'ed myself. I placed them in a cycled 30g QT tank with Prazi and kept the lights off till the next day. Offered frozen cyclopeeze several times a day, (very small amounts) untill they started eating on day three in QT. Place food in the current and step away not to scare the fish.

You really need to follow standard QT procedures, and not be scared. I believe there is a sticky on this forum, as well as on the Diseases Forum. Good luck.

Why are they considered hard to keep?

Initially they are sometimes difficult to start eating, and since they have small mouths, food size is relevant. Mine will eat cyclopeeze (frozen), mysis, but I had to start them on nutramar ova. Also, they are one of the ones that should be fed multiple times per day.

Very beautiful. How well would they do as a trio with a trio of lyretails in a 180 that is fed very well?

Phone wasn't updated didn't see your last post till after I posted.

So both types of those Anthias get along well? How did you manage that? I though that one kind of anthias would fight anther type of anthias.

So with the Evansi how many do you think would do well in a 120g with minamulist setup.
As for other fish I already have: nothing's in the 120g yet. Still filling it.
Pair of clowns
Yellow tang
Blue hippo tang
Potters angle

And soon to come:
Kole tang or another drawf angle (as long as it doesn't effect my potter's)
Blue Dot Jawfish
Mystery Wrasse (maybe not set on this one)
Pair of Red mandarins (if I can find a pair )

And I have to say I also love the 6 whaiteis you just posted. So I might have to look into thouse later on :) with the little amount of LR going in my tank I really want so nice schooling fish.

There are many threads on this forum, where people talk about combining different sp. of anthias. Waitei and evansii seem to be getting along. There is also one resplendent in the tank to confuse them all. I think you will be good with 7. Good luck.
