Evaporation?

How much more water does everyone lose during the summer? I have noticed that I have been needing to add more water to my tank in the past month then ever before. I just checked for leaks and there is nothing I can see. I did notice alot of salt on the inside of my stand. Is it me or is there something else that i should be worried about?

I lose anywhere between 1 to 5 gallons per day due to evaporation.
If there's salt creep inside your stand you should grab a flashlight and do an extensive search for any potential problems.

Yea, what Gary said. Where there is salt creep there is usually water escaping.

i'd double dog check for leaks ,but.... lots of funny weather lately. my tank has been extra thirsty or has gone a few days without needing any top off. hummidity plays a big factor on my tank. i'm usually about 6-12 oz a day .

I run a 65 gallon that uses about 1 to 1.5 gallons a day ...I have a lil salt creep on plastic bottom edges but it's from having my hands in the water and then it runs down the glass to the plastic frame causing some creep while drying.

Its not alot. Just enough to feel it on your hands. Id say its been 4 months since I wiped out my stand good. Im going to look good tomorrow.

my 120 used to go through 7+ gallons a day.... evaporative cooling stayed at 79 and 1200wts of light

My 55 loses about half a gallon to a gallon a day. Depends if I have my windows open or not and if there is a nice breeze rolling through the house.
