Ever Shrinking Nem

70g mixed running 24 months, all parameters consistently on point to NSW ranges, nitrate 4ppm, phosphate .04, temp 78, two 165 watts LED.

Corals, inverts, fish, healthy thriving except my BTA.

After 22 months of hosting a pair of Darwin clowns, it suddenly shrunk from a softball size with tentacles full and bubbled, to about the size of a golf ball, short weak tenticles, all in two months. It remains secure to the rock.

The only thing I can think of is an attack but a peppermint, however this would surprise me as if I put my hand anywhere near the nem, both clowns will attack my hand.

Any ideas or comments.

I have a rbta that shrink to about a dime, I thought it was a goner but I started feeding it mysis once or twice a week. Then after 4 to 6 months later it’s about a baseball size now. Maybe try that?

I tried feeding (a gentle blow through a baster) mysis but he does not react. he puzzles me, he has been moving and few inches, then, moving back, but does not seem to "secure" food in any way, seems just to float by. Virtually no tentacle extension at all, hosting clowns as norm.

that being said, your suggestion still makes the best sense in trying to save, so will continue this...

Appreciated....

It took a long time for it to get healthy again, but once it starts growing again, it just got big and I was like wow, I can't believe it was the same rbta.

Ok somethings up.
As mentioned above, my nem which has been a host for my Darwin pair fo 22 months started to shrink to nothing, about four days ago, it started to lose grip so it was removed.

It was replaced with the same, stuck to the rock immediately, extended fully, and the clowns back in.

Today, the fifth day, it to has shrunken to 1/4 size, very retracted. I see no damage.

Any thoughts. Could the pair be killing there home?

There is tons of coral, some fish, none agressive , three shrimp, no CUC and water has remained stable for mire than a year now.

Huh?
