everyday lens

my wife gave me a Nikon d80 for Christmas with a macro lens, but I will like a lens for a everyday shooting, any suggestions??
any advice will be appreciate it

Sigma 17-70 is a GREAT lens...would be great for a walk around

This is a spectacular lens. Could go on a vacation and never need to change a lens the entire time.

Given the dangers dust presents to the image sensor in a DSLR this lens makes a lot of sense.
