Everything died

Hello everyone,

Last week we moved office and me without been prepared rushed the move and didnt make sure the water temp was correct. I thought I turn on the heater, but didn't so the water was so cold and me trying to save it put the heater overnight and dont know maybe it shocked the tank and all my fishes and coreal died. Cant believe all my SPS were growing from little frags to colonies and all dead.

Tank still running will all the dead coral in there, will take the rocks out and put back do some water change and just wait until the tank is back to normal to start adding corals and fishes again.

So sad that I dont have words. My expensive torch garden all gone.

I will be back soon for some corals from some reefers here. It sucks to come to the office and that smell is so bad and everything I took care of is dead. After all it was a stupid mistake I made to rush the move without been prepared.

I feel you. I just stupid killed a lot of fish. It took me weeks before I could look at my tank and not cringe.

My friend I feel your pain. I recently lost a tank packed full of corals. I've had so many sps that I couldn't cut them fast enough, now my tank is practically empty, with a few pieces I managed to get back. To be honest though, if nothing else, it's a good learning opportunity and it makes you a better and more careful reefer in the future.

Yep! Been there more than once. I had been in the hobby for more than 30 years and had losses from both poor husbandry and due to equipment failures or parasites. It is devastating to the point I took a break in 2018 when I was moving into a home that I would remodel while living in it. I knew it would be impossible to keep a tank alive in that setting so I sold everything. Now 2 years later I'm done with my home remodel and the desire to get back into the hobby is overwhelming. Just planning on what size tank and equipment I'll purchase.
All we can do is understand the needs of these fish and corals and then carefully consider every decision we make that could upset the stability of these systems. It's a hard lesson to learn but you can move forward with time.

Generally, I would feed my tank daily and my No3 would be at 0-2. I started working more hours and I would skip the feedings, one day my refugium light broke, so I bought one that was about 3 times more powerful. With the lack of feeding my corals started to fade more and more. However, my Chaeto was growing 3 times as fast. I thought My tank was lacking potassium and iron, so I dosed some, an my algae exploded in growth even more. Basically I ended up with dead 0 nutrients and my coras starved out. One after another they would start dying and I didn't realize that I was starving them. Interestingly enough a year or two prior to the crash I found flatworms in my system. I thought they would be the end of my tank, but my corals were ok with flatworms. I was the one who killed all my corals. :/

Sadly I can also relate but as someone already said it’s a learning experience.
I have SPS that I’ll be happy to frag and donate once your tank is ready.

Thank you all.....I thought to myself should I just leave the hobby, but then I got this crazy deal for a Reefer 350 that I couldn't pass, so even going smaller on the tank now. But it will be the display tank in the office and I will probably add another one in my office room.
Tank is running until parameters are back to normal. Just can't go away just love the hobby
