EvilMel's Green Skirt Zoanthids

Hello MTRCers!

So my friend Art and I used to frag the ever-lovin' heck outta zoanthids called EMGS but I had to take a break from reefing for a while. Now that I've got a tank that's mature and established, I'd like to get a frag of these back.

The problem is that no one in ETRC seems to have these zoas anymore?!?

Anyone else have these? I'm looking for a frag that was originally derived from my colony so I'd probably be looking for one from you old-timers, if possible.

Anyone have those? I'll also take other neat zoas from you guys if you've got them so feel free to post up pics even if you don't have EMGS.

Mel,

I have no clue as to the origin of these. i got them from a local reefer in Winchester (non club member). He has been to swaps of years past and could have taken them from there. They are a hunter green center with a light colored mouth. neon green and yellow skirts.

You are welcome to a frag of them but I havent fragged them up yet.

If you've just gotten them and aren't ready to frag them then it's cool. Don't worry about it. I don't want to put you out! I can get a frag when you're ready later.

Mel. I've never dragged zoa's so I only know to grow them to a new rock. They are really fast growing so I'll put you a rock down. I can also hold them till the frag swap since I live in Podunk. Do they look like the ones you are after?

OK. I have done some research and the ones I have are NOT EMGS but they do have the same colored skirt, just different centers.

Is there a good source for ID on zoo's with pics and color description? Sometimes it seems like the names are made up on the spot...

There's zoaID.com. The names don't mean much to me honestly. These hold a special interest because they're named after me and I wanted to get some back.

Otherwise the only ones I really know much about are Eagle Eyes, Dragon Eyes, Radioactive Dragon Eyes, and Tubs Blues because all are very distinctive.
