Evolve 4 refugium

Hi, my current setup is a Mr. Aqua 12g long, I'm thinking of adding a 4g Aqueon Evolve under it as a refugium. Seems to me it would work out perfectly, front chamber for sand/rock/chaeto, and I can use the right rear for my skimmer, and left rear for my pumps. However I'm not sure if I would need two pumps or not. Would I need one for sucking water into the fuge, then one for returning it? Would the two pumps need to be the exact same pump, so the fuge doesnt overflow/dry up and overflow the tank. I've never set-up a sump/fuge before so any insight on this would be great.

You only want one pump, your drain to the 4g should rely on gravity/siphon only. Putting two pumps in there would make it almost impossible to match the flow rates perfectly.

Personally I think for the roughly $40-$60 your gonna spend on this 4g you'd be better off buying a 10 gallon and just putting in some baffles. Cost wise it will be almost the same (if not cheaper) and you'll be adding more volume to your tank.

I have the 4g already and think it would look great as a display refugium. Would I need an overflow box?
