i didnt really know where to put this so...
well today on the ride home from atlantic city (photo trip) i realized that i should start recording my stories that always happen when i am out taking pictures. i swear this thing has magic story making powers.

so here it goes

1. i was down the street from my house taking some pictures of sky/tree reflections in a puddle and all i hear is some lady begin to ask me if i am taking pictures of her inside her house in broken english. i didnt even realize that i had company until she started talking lol. well i reply "nope just of this puddle". she continues to tell me how she thought i was "another" person taking pictures of her inside her house. she tells me how she caught someone while she had her leg up. i say "nope just this puddle, you want me to show you?" she says no and i go home with some great shots.

2. i am in a mcdonalds in atlantic city getting some food with a friend who is also into photography. as we walk in one of the bums ask for change for a burger, i keep walking by not really paying atention, she tells him she will give him her change when she leaves. so we are sitting down eating and i see him walk up behind her, she has no clue he is there. he taps her on the shoulder and says "sorry to bother you but" and she jumps out of her seat lol. he scared the crap out of her lol. to sum up the rest, we gave him some money and left.

3.like 5 minutes later in ac i am setting up the tripod on one of those little triangle things in the road (in the middle of the Y like things) and my friend walks across the street(i dont notice). i get the tripod all setup and i notice she is across the street. i yell to her "where you goin" she points down the street and says "lets go this way" well im thinking maybe she knows a better spot as she knew what i was trying to shoot(one of those car shots where the head and break lights are lines from long exposure) so i take down the tripod and cross the street. she is laughing hilariously. she tells me that she saw a couple who were watching us. the guy was laughing looking at me and the lady snapped at him "what are you laughing at you do that to me all the time!!"!! as she grabs his arm and pulls him along lol

4.i get to this spot and setup the tri pod and am taking pictures of cars passing by as two security guards walk up and tell me how i cant take pictures here. they can "call the cops" and "sue" me for taking pictures here. i pack up and ask if they would like me to delete the pictures or if me leaving was good enough, they didnt care so i kept the pics lol

5.my friend (a differant one this time) are about to cross the street in philly when a bus stops at the corner and the door opens up. the last two people off the bus are two old black men. the one who stepps off first asks the other which way do we go. the man behind him slaps him in the head and says "right stupid"

6.i am with a couple of my friends on south street taking pics. a man walks up to me and starts talking to me. i go in, shake his hand and as i pull my hand back i now have a little brick of hash in my hands an 8th if remember what he said. i tell him i dont want it. he takes it back, i start to walk away. he breaks some off and puts some in my coat pocket and is like i can give u that for 10. "i dont want it". after argueing with him for like 10 mins about how i dont want it he reduces his price to 5. "i dont want this". he starts getting loud "i dont do deals like that" "i already broke it off". this man is yelling about this "drug deal" on south street. i am starting to get annoyed and as i take a breath in preperation to say to him he better take it back before i drop it on the ground and walk away while he is left here looking like an ass picking his **** up off the street(didnt get to say it), one of my friends says "we are about to miss the train lets go". he takes it back and we leave lol

7.i am on the witman bridge, the walk path thing. i get about half way and a guy in some uniform tells me that i cant take pictures of the bridge, just ones of the water and city and stuff off of the bridge. so i start walking back. i have my 70-300 zoom on there so i was looking pro lol. well i am setting up a shot of the city skyline when 2 ladys who are jogging aproach. one notices i am about to take a picture and stops, the other doesnt. she notices just before she gets into the line of sight of the lens. i pull my face away from the camera to see this one lady standing there while her friend is trying to pretty much half joggin half doing the limbo (i guess she couldnt stop in time and had to duck) to stay out of my shot.

things i have learned from these trips
1.you cant take pictures OF the witman bridge, but you can thak them OFF of the bridge(while on it). i almost lost my camera on this one
2.i look like a druggie
3.you can't take pictures of atlantic city streets with a tripod?

just sharing my stories. all within in my one month of photography. do you have any to share? lets hear them

Heh good stuff.. I probably have some stories but I'm on a train right now and am finally about to get off...! Huge snowstorms going on here right now delaying everything.

As far as #6 goes.... Once when I was in Amsterdam I had a similar thing happen, except his guy decided to grab my hand as I was walking buy and pour out a "sample" line of cocaine..... I brush it off, and try to continue in my way.... the guy followed my and my friends for about 5 blocks... once he got violent my friend gave him a few bucks to cover the sample and we were on our way.

Not really photography related though.. but yeah it happens, scary, because in their mind you owe them something.

I feel like in today's world where P&S cameras are everwhere and aren't used for photography for the sake of it, rather for simple documentation (I don't know if anybody here has the um, pleasure, of using facebook - you'll know what I mean), it is easy to be labelled as strange, or creepy when you sport the SLR around town.. using a tripod too, that'll get you some attention.

yea face book, lol i have one. when you get home see if you can think up some of your stories and share. im intrested in what others experience. to me photography is way more than just pictures, its the stories and things i have experienced in order to get the shots :)
