Exp. orchid dottyback/black cap basselt?

We have an orchid and it is one of the most active fish in the tank. IME they are pretty cool lil fishes!

I have an orchid. He is pretty peaceful and hid almost all the time until feeding time. I re-did my rock work a few weeks ago and added more caves. Now it spends most of its time swimming around one half of my tank but still pretty laid back.

Also, don't know if you care about this or not, but captive bred orchids are pretty readily available.

I had an orchid and black cap. I prefer black cap, it was more visible than orchid dottyback. It stayed it rock all the time only coming out for food. No aggression from dottyback or black cap.

Not much aggression in mine either. The only time it gets defensive is when somebody trys to get in her spot were she sleeps at night. Other than thats shes a happy camper.

I have had a pair of Orchids in my reef now for years. I have had to introduce two new individuals to an established fish now and enjoyed watching the dominant fish change sex. Then see them pair and breed.

I'm considering adding three more.

Obviously, I really like them!

I've had a number of dottybacks and none were ever aggressive.. I have a neon now, first fish added and isn't aggressive to anyone. Sunrise dotty wasn't aggressive either.

Holger - if you're debating which would be the better fish..... I vote for the Fridmani Pseudochromis over the Black Cap. The color of this fish will definitely be an eye catcher and they become more active in the aquarium. I currently have one and it's a beautiful fish to watch and keep. Shy to begin with but peaceful fish. I can't say the same for my sixline wrasse. Good luck.

I have a black cap. It does do a little digging and is not aggressive at all. I like him just fine:
