Could be a reaction to your lighting? Its obviously expelling somthing but really looks like zooxanthella. Youve had him for a couple months, was there a fairly significant change in lighting, and or type of lighting before going into your tank?If not, it could possibly be a spectrum shift in your bulbs?(a very ez one to forget or be unaware of..). I would cross these off your list, if cant, possibly could be your answer. Regardless, if it does indeed bleach out or lose significant color, just be sure to pamper it and spot feed it till it can recoup and get its pigment back to feed itself, all the while you keeping clean water and an eye on your perams.

My vote is that it's expelling zooxanthella... my short tent plate has done the same thing in the past.

"plates dont last in captivity."

they are easy corals to care for ...mines going on for about ( at least) 3 years in captivity :)

thanks for all the replies.
my lights are 6 months old, so i guess it could be that. i will have to keep a eye on him.
also i do target feed him, but not on that night.
thanks for all the ideas and i will keep an eye on it.
