Expensive fish

Most expensive fish I ever bought was a navarchus angel for $140. Had it for many years in a FO tank. Worth every penny. Most expensive fish I've ever personally seen with my own eyes was an asfur angel for $800 back when all red sea fish were VERY expensive.

I remember clarions when they were obtainable and affordable. I wouldn't even have spent that much on one back then, IMO.

Hey richconely, thanks for the compliament. Hey daveg99, you know whats even dumber then spending a large amount of money on a fish is? Spending that amount on alcohol and ****ing it out the next day. Now thats what i call wasting money.

I agree. Drinking can get expensive. But its entertainment with a good chance of getting laid. Well worth the $50 for a night.

Back to the fish....I want to see some pics of these $300+ fish !!! Someone post em up.

here are a few...

It all depends on where you get your fish from and who you know. I spent $70 on my helfrichi firefish and 100 on my mysteri wrasse, I got the hook on on both. I am going to get a regal angel which my local store told me would be 250 but I will get it from somewhere else for 80. I was told by another friend who ownes a store that he could do me a favor and probably get me a goldflake angel at 130ish. probably wholesale price. a 3 ft blacktip reef sark is an hour away at 1500 which is ok. multicolor angel I passed on at 70 on saturday.

Nope, this was in Clifton, NJ, at Absolutely Fish. Are you talking about the guy on Mamaroneck Ave?

I was talking about Jawz II in Elmsford, NY. The guy on Mamaroneck Ave closed down last month and at the time had a $3000 Dragon Moray, wonder what he did with that guy :)

If I had the money, I'd want several Gem Tangs!

Peppermint Angels are nice and expensive too. I think there was a thread were a Japanese reefer has a breeding pair.....

Phishy Business often has fish in the $1000+ range, and they've got a great rep for high quality fish and coral. They also have $20 firefish ($150 if you want the Helfrichi variety) and I've bought $10 frags from them at swaps -- they don't play the "mark it way up and some noob will buy it" game.

Most expensive fish I have owned are probably the goldflake and chrysurus. I have a buddy who has a conspic, you can sometimes get them from Quality Marine (if you have access to wholesale) for $700. I am in Tucson (about 40 minutes from Mexico) and have heard of Clarion juveniles for $4000. They are getting more expensive as Border security increases. They are often passed off as passer angels, so I hear.

bskiba-

I have access to wholesale and I can't get a goldflake for less than $150, who do you go through?

crosshatch triggers are very beautfiful fish. I think 400$ for a male isn't a bad price at all for retail. I think the marine center want 1000$ for a pair, which is the most ridicluous thing i've heard. lol I've had about 2 dozen crosshatches in the past 5 months. Very easy to come by for me since my friend catches them :)

I know for a fact i can get any fish in the pacific for less then the wholesalers charge in LA. :) Its great being in Hawaii!

A buddy of mine who has a shop was guessing 130 and he could be off by 20 or so. I will ask him. I dont remember who he had been buying through. sea-dwelling or someone else.

The funny thing is that 99% of people who look at a tank with a $1500 fish in it will probably be complimenting you on the $60 Queen Angel swimming next to it.

some fish ive seen for sale golden puffer 499 chrysurus angel- 800 dragon eel- 1000 conspulatous ive seen back in the day when ffexpress was around for 2500.
