Made a mistake when acclimating some coral frags from Reef 2 Go to my 180 Zeo tank. I included a Duncan with some SPS frags I treated with Bayer, at 5 ml per cup for 10 minutes with a tiny power head for circulation. But the Duncan is thriving while a Merulina frag bleached out. Go figure.

I don't know why it's not further used. I love it. I rely on it totally. It is so inexpensive and just kills everything. I often have corals not even pull their polyps in while being dipped in it. You know how delicate coral is about it's polyps. They pull them in at the first sign of annoyance. SPS especially often EXTENDS its polyps when dipped. I wonder if it notices things being killed that quickly?
Yep. But, if you step back from it for a moment, it's so weird that we're using insecticide to dip our coral. Strange brew.
But....if you stop thinking of them as bugs....and just think of them as creatures with exoskeletons....I've been told something about the physiology of that is what makes this work. Works for me : )

They were most likely already stressed from shipping. I have a QT for this purpose. I acclimate the corals to the QT and three days later is when I start my treatment, Bayer, ReVive and Interceptor. Even the sensitive deep water corals survived shipping all the way from Cali, here is my Red Dragon seven months after being added to my display (three weeks in QT).

+1. Love this stuff. I was on the verge of giving up SPS after I found AEFW on my acros. Threw out some nice colonies before I had the balls to pull all acros out of the tank and do the treatment. I was going to lose them all slowly anyway so figure I would give it a try. I first tried on a small colony and after the dip, I noticed the polyps were out within a couple hours into the tank. I was so happy that I spent 5 hours treating every remaining acro. My solution was 1cup of bayer in 1 gallon of tank water for 30-40mins. Minimum stress to the acros. I waited 3 three and did another treatment with no issue at all.
Now, all my incoming corals(All SPS so far) get a 30min treatment and haven't seen any AEFW or RB. I'm very happy with this.

Buzz1329, I acclimate the coral to the QT for an hour. Three days after the coral has been introduced I do a 5 min. dip in Bayer then a 5 min. dip in ReVive. I let the corals settle in the QT for two days before I perform a 24 hour treatment of Interceptor. I do this for a period of three weeks.

Sorry, I dip in Bayer & ReVive and treat with Interceptor once a week for three weeks. I have the large dog pill, I use a quarter of the pill per 10 gallons. Overdosing the pill does not harm the corals. I use a standard 10 gallon tank with a hang on back filter and 40 watt 50/50 power compact light fixture. I change the water twice a week with water from my display tank. I have a coral I purchased on eBay coming on Tuesday, I will post pictures once I begin the treatment.

Well I have an interesting story re: Bayer. A week and a half ago I bought a small frag of Jedi Mind Trick and put it into a dip solution of 15 mL/cup, THEN I FORGOT ABOUT IT!!! Yikes. An hour and 15 minutes later I saw the bowl with the frag and milky Bayer solution in it, rinsed the frag well in tank water and put it on my frag rack. I was pretty depressed about it - I'd waited a long time to find an affordable piece of Mind Trick and driven way out into the burbs to go get it.
A week later and it's still on my frag rack, showing no signs of tissue necrosis. PE is not what it could be, but it has shown marked improvement since being added to the tank. I have high hopes that it will actually make it.
Just thought I'd add to our knowledge base - leaving a Jedi Mind Trick in an unaerated Bayer dip (at 15mL/cup!) for over an hour is not a 100% death warrant. Pretty glad I used Bayer instead of iodine or similar.
