so im running the hang on back reef octopus bh 2000 on my 75 for well over a year now. I've noticed that the skimmer never quite produced the amazing skimmate the bh 2000 owners would brag about.
In any case, I took apart the skimmer to clean it. This time around I removed the output pipe that drains below the water level. I turned it on, properly primed it of course.... And bam! The skimmer is producing a ridiculous amount of skimmate. Is this normal? Anyways, I cant make any sense of this. I'm guess that placing the output pipe below the water level caused the skimmer to work harder and produce less bubbles. Has anyone else here experienced this with the hang on back reef octopus bh 2000?
