Fancied a pair of clowns a little 'different' for my latest reef tank. Anyone had much experience with these?
They in the clarkii complex right?
Is there behaviour like a clarkii, are they as unfussy about there hosting as a clarkii?

Any info you have guys would be great.
Also im not having much look searching for info, anyone have a latin name for these? I have Joyces clownfish book but its boxed up pending a house move! Typical.

Cheers

Probably the most susceptible of the clowns to brook, and very expensive. Inland Aquatics in Terra Haute has a breeding pair for $800 if you want to give it a go!

As stated, assume they have brook when you get them and treat accordingly, otherwise they're price is comparable to any other clarkii complex clown (not expensive in the least), whatever that may be in the U.K.

If you mean Amphiprion chrysopterus, then any LFS that uses TMC should be able get them for you.

Anytime I have been in TMC, they have always looked very nice and healthy.

As Chris said, price is not much different from a typical clarkii.

Cheers

I killed mine (and a couple other choice pairs) with brook after adding a nigripes pair to the system.
I quarrantine everything now....

cheers for the help guys.
Thanks for the latin also Mike, should have thought to check your site out. Will get my LFS to try TMC for me.
Nice tank Walt love the orange shoulder tang, there doesnt look much size difference between those clowns.
Can someone also go into a little more detail about brook? Its new to me.

Cheers

Personally I think brooklynella and amyloodinium are often confused. Either way it kinda sucks. I think most of the brook infections you hear about are really amyloo. I personally treat them the same. I had bad experiences with copper early on when I was learning to quarrantine. It works great for a lot of people and may be even better for some illnesses than formalin but I just am not comfortable using it.
I use the same regamin on all clowns. They go straight into a 10-30 gallon tank that has 1.009 SG, 1mL/gallon Formalin III and .5mL/gallon of amquel. I do a 20% water change every day or two and feed VERY sparingly. All make up water is treated with formalin and amquell. I add nitrofurazone if I see any lesions starting. The only thing I think I should add to my regamin that I'm not currently using is a dewormer.

The leucokranos clowns in the picture were also affected. The female was laying on her side covered in slime but with the above regamin, I was able to save them both. They are very healthy today.
That one mistake cost me a sebae clown, two nigripes, a super rare pair of X2 polymnus/sebae hybrids, a 12 year old ocellaris, a brown polymnus and probably something else I'm forgetting.
